Earlier this year, I was selected by the Movemeant Foundation to become a Dare to Bare Ambassador. The program enlists the help of bloggers and fitness professionals all over the U.S. to encourage women to get active and fight the body image epidemic that affects every single one of us. If you visit their site or Instagram page, you can see photographs of women, all shapes and sizes, working out in a sports bra, daring to bare it all. It’s truly a beautiful thing.
Sharing fitness has become a true passion of mine and I’m reminded every day why I embarked on this blogging journey through the support of friends and the responses from people who read my blog. Being one of 30 Dare to Bare Ambassadors (and the only one in Texas), I was tasked to host monthly community challenges and hopefully inspire my Dallas community to get active and step out of their comfort zones. You can read about some of them here and here.
“We empower young women to feel confident about their bodies by using physical movement as a platform for building self-worth and positive body image.” — Movemeant FoundationÂ
Part of the ambassador program also included a chance to win one of two $5000 grants from Movemeant Foundation or Old Navy. I’m so excited to announce that I am the recipient of the Movemeant Foundation grant!!
Humbled, honored, ecstatic, shocked, disbelief  …only a few words to describe the roller coaster of emotions. Above all, grateful. Absolutely grateful. I’m pretty sure I read the congratulatory email 20 times to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.
My plans with the grant is to reinvest all of it back into my blog and my newest venture, Dallas Fitness Ambassadors, a community for fitness influencers. Lots to come in 2016 including a Dallas-MVMT community event! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the year and what other ways I can bring fitness to the community.
