The weather is finally starting to warm up and I am excited for all the events this spring and summer. I’m dying to get out of the house and check out different events going on in Dallas. Anyway, I wanted to share a few festivals that have caught my eye for the month of April. Here is the short and skinny of what to do and where to go:
April 4-6: March Madness Music Festival
This is a pretty exciting event. Three days of free music at Reunion Park. The music line up includes The Killers, fun., Bruce Springsteen and so many more cool artists. Block party on Friday, Coke Zero music countdown on Saturday, jam fest on Sunday. Do all that and watch the NCAA championship live! Why the hell not?!
April 4-6: Deep Ellum Arts Festival
Going on it’s 20th year, this 3-day festival is free to attend. If you’re into eclectic music, street art, and most importantly food, check this out. The weather should be nice this Friday and Saturday so take a walk, grab some food, and bring the dog. II Cane Rosso, Tanoshii, and Fuzzy’s Taco’s are among the featured restaurants this year around. Bring cash. You’ll need them to buy coupons for the food.
April 3-13: Dallas International Film Festival
It’s been around forever. If you’re in the mood for new short films and screenings, check out their schedule here. There is also a bunch of other events DIFF hosts over the next week.
April 10-13: Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival
Can’t forget our beloved neighbor Fort Worth. Food, music, art, and other stuff. A little more fam bam oriented, but the beer won’t run out. Free to attend, just don’t forget to bring cash for coupons and parking.
April 11-13: Dallas Art Fair
Use code: DAFPROFESSIONAL2014 to get a free ticket on Friday. Culture Map is pairing up with the Dallas Arts Festival’s Professional’s Day. This also means free entry into the Art Fair. If you’re in the neighborhood, why not take a stroll through the Fashion Industry Gallery. To get your ticket, go to the ticketing page, select one-day pass and enter the code. Friday’s event is from 11am – 7pm.
April 13, Sunday : King Creole Crawfish Festival:
This is the first year for this event and a crawfish tasting (with beer of course) does sound mighty intriguing. $15 for tickets and it’ll be located at Chicken Scratch/The Foundry. There will also be live music plus other creole dishes to taste. Yum! The event will be from 430p-830p.
April 25-26: Texas Food Truck Festival
$10 on Friday and $12 on Saturday to get in. Bring a canned good to get $2 off your ticket. It’ll be hosted at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Here’s a list of food trucks that will be there. I counted over 30 trucks will be serving their goods. Have fun. Get fat. #turntdownforwhat
April 26: North Texas Taco Festival POSTPONED
I actually attended this taco festival last year and it was hosted in Deep Ellum for the first time. This year, they are back and if you like stuffing your face with tacos other than when you’re drunk, this should be a fun shingdig to visit. Here’s a sample of who’s coming: Revolver Taco, El Tizoncito, Velvet Taco, Taco Party, Lazaranda, Rusty Taco, Urban Taco, La Nueva Fresh & Hot, El Padrino, Chile Pepper Grill, So-Cal, Taco Taxi Co., Ssahm BBQ, El Taco del Rincon de Villa, Los Torres Taqueria and more. The festival will be in Oak Cliff off Singleton Blvd and the Four Corners Brewery. Tacos and beer. Can’t beat that.
Just found out from their partners, the festival will be postponed till later this year. Updates to come.
