Virtual Sweat Date: Work life balance, lashes, and events

It’s kind of hard to believe we are three months into the new year. My mind is blown, time is going by so fast! So much so, it’s been about 2 months since my last virtual sweat date and I have so much to catch you up on. What I love about my virtual sweat date series is sharing more about my life beyond food and fitness and is probably my favorite blog to write.

This year has been amazing so far. Challenging, but definitely amazing. I’m most proud of my recent rebrand of Fitness Ambassadors and the new direction I’m taking my company. It finally feels that after 2 years of experimenting and trial and error, I finally know the identity of my company and that is such an amazing feeling. Guys, I’m creating as I go and it’s really nerve wrecking, but so cool. I’m definitely excited about the events calendar and making it easier for everyone to find fun fitness things to do in Dallas!

Fitness Ambassadors has an HQ! I signed up at a new coworking space I’m absolutely in love with, called Goodwork. It’s located behind Deep Ellum and is all about the healthy, fit, and eco-friendly things. After almost 2 years of working from home, I was reaching a point where coffee shops were incurring an unnecessary expensive bill and working at home can be distracting and unhealthy. I found myself working from 8am till 11pm at night with no breaks. It was hard to separate work and home. With the new year, I could feel myself getting burned out. I can’t tell you how amazing it felt to invite more structure into my life. Show up at the office at 830a and leave at 530/630pm. I could finally leave work at work and reclaim my home space. I’m a much happier person and so grateful I made this decision.

I’m hosting TWO upcoming silent yoga parties and I’d love for you to be there. I’ve poured a lot of my energy and love into these events and it really does mean the world when you share my events or show up! I’m hosting one at Victory Park this Thursday and another in West Village on April 26th with Michelob ULTRA. It’s crazy to think almost 2 years ago, I brought it to Dallas and hosted the first silent yoga and now it’s something I get to share regularly.

I’ve been getting so many compliments about my lashes! My friend Shelsea from Peachy Keen Studio brought me in for a pampering day and offered to hook me up with some lashes. I’ve had them for about a month and a half and I’m obsessed. I absolutely the love the ease and this faux low maintenance life. Real talk, I am not one of those girls that goes to the gym looking rough AF. I like coordinating my outfits because I think feeling good about myself walking into the gym is just as important as how I feel when I’m getting in my sweat session and walking out. I’ll always wear a touch of make up (at least my brows and eyeliner and some tinted moisturizer), but that’s what I’m comfortable in. But with my lashes, I literally do less and no longer have to worry about my eyeliner smearing because asian eyes. Ha! Shelsea is the freaking bomb and her studio is cruelty-free and she has such a kind and amazing energy. Her studio also does hair, blow outs and make up. Check her out!

I’ve had the chance to work with some really fun brands lately, including Fabletics, Outdoor Voices, Goody Hair, SweatWellth, Delighted by Dessert Hummus and Sprouts. I’m extremely grateful for all these opportunities because it’s so fun to partner and get creative with my content. I’d also love to thank everyone that takes the time to like or comment or engage with me in my stories. You guys are supporting my livelihood! Did you know that? You don’t necessarily have to buy anything (because I don’t do a ton of affiliate links), but simply being there and being excited for me keeps me going on so many levels.

I freakin hit a new PR with my deadlifts and I’m so proud of myself! This was after a long ass week and I needed to work off the frustration. I went in and hit 225lb on the deadlift. It’s been such an elusive goal and it felt so good to hit it. Getting back into lifting has been the best thing ever for me. I always feel strong and empowered after every gym session. I also did that while trying out this new product called Spray Chalk from SweatWellth. Pretty cool stuff.

In my last Virtual Sweat Date, I talked about guarding my time and learning how to say no to more things. Keeping to that promise, I’ve noticed a significant change in my overall mood and productivity levels. I’m feeling less anxious and my days are fully open just for me to focus on my work with less interruptions. I do my best to plan all my calls/meetings into one day instead of spreading it out throughout the week. Did you know, it takes your mind 15 mins to fully focus on the task at hand? So when you’re constantly checking notifications, emails or dealing with interruptions, it definitely hurts you in the long run. I’m being more intentional with my spare time and I’m loving. Plus, I’m able to indulge in fun foodie dates again!

How excited I am for the rest of the year. I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself and I’m truly grateful for all the amazing people in my life. While ups and downs are totally normal, I’m embracing the journey. Thanks guys for joining me on this sweat date. I promise to get more consistent in my blogging as it’s still in the back seat with everything going on. You guys are the absolute best!
