First Taste: Kessler Park Eating House

Kessler Park Eating House, also owned by the same owners of Jonathan’s, opened a few weeks ago in Oak Cliff and I’ve been dying to go. I absolutely love Jonathan’s (great brunch), so I expected the new restaurant to live up to some seriously high standards. Also, following the Kessler Park Eating House on Facebook always made me hungry. Those food pics though…

The new restaurant made for a great foodie date with my good friend Jmak. Here’s a first taste at one of the newest and hottest restaurants to try:

A couple of starters to whet the appetite.

Pimiento cheese and toasted bread.

Pimiento cheese is making a comeback. I liked it, but wouldn’t order this again. I still think the pimiento from Remedy is still awesome.

Pierogis!

Pierogis!

The pierogis were so delicious. This was my first time trying them so I don’t have anything to compare. These dumpling-like bites of heaven rocked my world. I’m so glad my foodie date was nice enough to let me eat most of it. Ha.

Halibut

Halibut

The pan seared halibut comes with creamed kale and a potato cake. Supposedly one of the best sellers on the menu, but I wasn’t totally in love. The halibut was cooked nicely and was perfectly flaky. Kale was delicious and the potato cake reminded me of tater tots. The cream…can’t remember what it’s called… but it really brought every bite together.

Noodles and meat sauce.

The star of the night: the $12 homemade pasta with meat sauce. This was soo good, I had food envy all night as my friend devoured it. Ever feel that twinge of regret when your food date orders something that looks a million times more amazing than what you got? Yea…that’ll be me. I’d definitely come back just for this. Generous portion and I’m drooling looking at this again…

Kessler Park Eating House doesn’t have a website just yet. Here’s a look at the menu as of April.  The prices are pretty reasonable for a new and trendy restaurant. Portions are good and the service is nice. Hope you guys like it!
